At a time of great change in our societies, climate, governments, employment, etc., and as the order we have known radically shifts, many people, feel called to do something. In response, many new projects, initiatives, organisations and movements have emerged. But how do we actually work together towards the future we see possible? What more is possible if we connect our efforts and take this emerging work to a new scale? What if we took the next step of moving out from our own spheres to connect with each other, strengthen our work and find new scales of impact that call in new systems of influence? We need to find new ways of connecting, communicating and relating to each other that promote solidarity and the sense of belonging to a wider community, one that is willing to work together towards societal transformation.
Here in Greece over the past eight years, we have learned that solidarity is a key practice of navigating disorienting times. We see solidarity very simply as learning and doing together by coming into relationship. In fact, relationship has been the main currency carrying us through the tension and shock of ongoing financial, political and migrant crisis. Being there for one another, and finding simple, yet resilient solutions has been the foundation of living in these times. In Greece and all over the world we are noticing that relationship needs to go to service in a new way. The imperative is to transcend the many unprecedented challenges we face by turning to one another and going to work together.
This is why we are calling our 9th Art of Participatory Leadership Training in Greece with the focus on working together for societal transformation. We see the practice of hosting as a form of leading that connects people and ideas, cultivates courage and creates new capacity to take our individual efforts and work towards collective impact.
We invite you to join our 3-day experiential training on participatory leadership (and much more!). Come with your curiosity and longing to learn, your projects, stories and burning questions. Be ready to step in to practice in a brave and generative environment with people who are ready to take their lives and work to new levels. We invite you to explore, play and practice being a Participative Leader: someone who knows how to ask the right questions and who creates the conditions for others to join the inquiry.
Who is this for?
Anyone who wants to develop collaboration and participation skills - public service professionals, entrepreneurs, social innovators, NGOs, leaders in business, educators, and anyone who see themselves stepping into new ways of leading.
Where will we learn?
Join us in the heart of Athens, at the beautiful Impact Hub, a locally founded, globally connected collective work space for social entrepreneurs and creatives who are prototyping the future of social business.
You will also:
The 3-day experiential training is the 9th one held in Athens. It is an entry-level training into the Art of Participative Leadership (AoPL) designed by experienced trainers who are working with participation locally and worldwide. You will experience models, methods, and process design techniques that will support you to explore working with collaboration strategically so that diverse or even conflicting perspectives can create a new future. On a personal level, you will experience a sense of belonging to a community where you can share your hopes, fears, stories and ideas. You will be introduced to a global network of practitioners actively involved in creating new systems of living and working.
The training will support your learning by teaching the underpinning theory of participatory leadership, give real-time experience through using the dialogue methods, and receive coaching as you step into your leadership practice during the training. Participants will be in the practice of hosting at the same time learning about it.

AoHAthina is a community of practice that enables emerging and mature leaders to step into what calls them, individually and collectively, by creating a learning laboratory of practitioners locally and around the world. We offer trainings and immersive learning on participatory leadership, living systems, and design practices for living and working in complexity, particularly in contexts of chaos, crisis and collapse. We are stewards of the Art of Hosting and Harvesting Meaningful Conversations / Participatory Leadership which is a self-organizing global community of practice.
I have been facilitating groups and running stakeholder engagement processes for 30 years but the art of hosting provided a new approach to engaging people around their most cherished values and beliefs.
