What does it mean to use drawings to support and change the dynamics in a conversation? How does visualization contribute to a group and help shift the focus of a conversation? How can visuals help us listen deeper, illuminate what needs to be seen, and support collective understanding?
Humans are visual creatures. Most of us process information based on what we see, and according to studies, 60-65% of us are visual learners. Visuals also serve as key facilitative aids for collective seeing and navigation.
In this Visual Practice Workshop—the first of its kind in Greece—we will explore how visuals can influence deep listening, illuminate highlights of conversation, and support collective understanding. This two and a half day workshop is ideal for those who want to:
- Start exploring the practice of Graphic Facilitation,
- Expand existing graphic skills, and
- Enhance their capacity for using visual tools in related disciplines.
Drawing will be the primary form of practice. It is not required that participants be skilled scribes – but be prepared to use this modality as the main means of application over the course of the workshop.
AoHAthina will host this first Visual Practice Workshop in Greece, with the intention of bringing more awareness of this practice and the ways in which it can support and enrich meaningful conversations, dialogue and decision making.
